What about you and your background makes you the best candidate for this office?

I don’t come from politics. I’m an every day, average Joe and I think that is why I’m more than qualified to hold office. We should want people with real experiences against the struggles that poor government policy caused. I can connect to the people of my district, the citizens of WV, when making legislative decisions that would affect us ALL. I grew up underprivileged in this state, so I know firsthand what help the state can provide that can mean life or death for someone. I will lose my job if I win my election. That is a choice/decision I'm willing to make to show those I represent, I mean business.
 

What are the top three statewide issues you see for West Virginians at this time?

Affordability and cost of living 

-    Rising electricity costs

-   Housing costs

-  Grocery prices

-  Health insurance/prescription cost

-  Wages not matching pace of inflation

Access to Healthcare:

-  Medical professional shortages

-  Keeping healthcare affordable

-     Addiction and behavioral health services

Education & keeping young people in WV

-  Expanding good paying jobs

-   Workforce training

-     PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPPORT!

-   Giving young adults a reason to stay in WV

 

What are the top three issues you see for constituents residing within the district you are seeking to represent?

Good paying jobs and economic growth:

- Attract new manufacturing and industry

- Redevelop vacant commercial and industrial sites

- Supporting small businesses

Affordability:

- Property tax reform

- Housing cost reduction

- Inflation on grocery costs and other necessities

Public safety, infrastructure and quality of life:

- Road and bridge maintenance

- Revitalizing neighborhoods

- Improving parks and community spaces

- Mental health support

District 10 has its issues, yes. But we are also lucky enough to have the basics like clean drinking water, unlike some parts of southern WV. We aren’t currently stressed over the development of Data Centers (currently) like other parts of WV, and with HB 2014 taking away the local governments say in certain issues that pertain to data centers. I think that just because we are possibly more well off than other parts of the state, doesn't mean the people of my district should be put on the back burner while the delegate we elect only votes to what their party wants, while directly affecting their own constituents.

What is your position on data centers being built in our state?

I am against data centers here in WV. I don’t think a state that can’t even supply proper power and clean water to the whole state should even consider data centers. While I think they could potentially benefit a state, I don’t think our infrastructure and the passing of HB 2014 will do anything to benefit us. Considering the tax breaks they are getting and the taxes they are paying, are going to absorb the cost of taxes paid by the wealthiest in the state, is another reason I WILL NOT support data centers coming here.

 

How do you intend to better serve the education system for children in our state if elected? 

​

I think that putting guard rails on the HOPE VOUCHER program is a start. Not getting rid of it completely but changing how the funds are being spent and who gets access to the funds. Some counties in the poorest parts of our state have ZERO children benefiting from the HOPE VOUCHER. We can’t sit here and be complacent about the closing of schools, the terrible pay we give our teachers, and the lack of support our teachers have while simultaneously giving money to out of state entities and doing stuff like paying for karate lessons. I will always be in support of the public school system because public schools are a fundamental right to access by each one of our children.
 

What is your vision to increase family incomes and opportunity, raise the quality of life, and to make Wood County an area that families want to call home?  

​

I will be there to control unnecessary spending and bring that money back into the communities in which it comes from. By working with local government and supporting new businesses into the state that bring new skills and jobs for our neighbors, it will show that WV plans to invest in the people themselves VS. outside special interests. Including, making sure someone who wants to open a business in our communities has the help of the state to make it as easy as possible. My campaign has pledged to not take corporate PAC money, and in doing so, means that I won’t be susceptible to outside interests. That when making decisions to force utility companies to lower costs, I won’t be blackmailed to vote against the interests of West Virginians. Continuing to support vaccine measures in the state that has a 85% approval rating, while my opponent wants to remove those mandates for children. To actually be present in the community I represent, I hear their concerns and issues and go to the capitol with a list of things to change.

We just need to open our ears, be present, and actually represent the masses who elect us to office. To show that even smaller populated districts have a card to play at the table in the capitol. I may not have all the answers, but I will work with those who have the expertise and come to bi-partisan support for ALL legislation that ACTUALLY benefits the entire state and mainly district 10, not just the select few with the biggest bank accounts.
