Candidate for Wood County Commission
Charlie Meyers graduated from Williamstown High School and has a Bachelor of Science degree from Marietta College. He served in the United States Army with the 11th Airborne and 24th Infrantry Divisions. Charlie was an active member for over 51 years with the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department and is a former president of the Wood County Fire Fighters Association. Charlie served on Williamstown City Council and is currently serving the Williamstown Sanitary and Stormwater Board. In addition to his service to the community, Charlie was also the long-time treasurer for the Wood County Democratic Party.
Charlie's drive to run comes from being involved in some form of public service since a young age. His experience ranges from volunteer firefighter, military service, City Council, public boards, and various committees. The position of County Commissioner would allow him to continue to be of service to his fellow citizens. If elected, his goal would be fiscal responsibility and to do the best job possible for our citizens utilizing the resources currently available.
Meyers is retired from GE after 30 years with Borg Warner Chemicals/GE Plastics working in the Information systems area. He lives in Williamstown with his wife Linda Mayo Meyers, a professor emeritus at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
